Kenia: Simply Kenia

Delude il nuovo disco della vocalist brasiliana Kenia, per un progetto asettico che pesca qua e là nel più conosciuto repertorio legato alla bossa nova e che strizza l’occhio al mercato statunitense con qualche brano in inglese, nella speranza di allargare le possibilità di vendita ai mercati anglofoni.

Ma al di là di questo, quello che non convince è il tono uniforme del disco che si trascina stancamente dall’inizio alla fine senza trovate e colpi d’ala, risultando quanto meno monotono.

Al progetto già di per sé non coinvolgente, si aggiunge la monoliticità della prova vocale di Kenia, troppo uguale a se stessa, quasi algida e distaccata. Una voce elegante e soffusa che però alla lunga si rende prevedibile, senza un veri palpiti e coinvolgimento emotivo.

Si troviamo di fronte, insomma, al tipico disco di bossa nova, fatto dai brasiliani per gli americani, in cui tutto risulta patinato e in cui nulla è fuori posto e lasciato al caso.
