Queen Mab Trio: See Saw
Come spesso accade, i talenti della musica radicale creano corto circuiti tra jazz, improvvisazione e contemporanea non allineata.

Lo fa in See Saw il Queen Mab Trio, organico tutto al femminile con pianoforte, clarinetti e viola.

Un’architettura sonora aperta a tutto, dove il materiale scritto è fondale tematico fragile, messo sotto attacco da divagazioni, improvvisi sussulti, con gli strumenti che spesso forzano la loro natura alla ricerca di sonorità eterodosse.

Due canadesi (Freedman e Lerner) incontrano l’olandese Henneman, la cui viola porta la giusta densità timbrica e talvolta una dolce ferocia improvvisativa nelle trame rodate di clarinetti e piano.

Ci sono riferimenti alla scena avant di Amsterdam, alle avanguardie storiche, alla musica da camera più seriosa.

A conti fatti, comunque, esecuzioni di alto livello e un CD di notevole riuscita.
