Claudio Puntin: Rot

Quarantatreene clarinettista svizzero di formazione classica, collaboratore del pianista Wolfert Brederode (con il quale pubblica su ECM) e di Lucas Niggli, Claudio Puntin presenta in questa occasione un lavoro complesso, nato per accompagnare l’audiolibro del romanzo dello scrittore turco Orhan Pamuk Il mio nome è Rosso.

Su questo CD viene proposta solo la parte musicale, dalla marcata ispirazione orientale fusa in un contesto cameristico contemporaneo, che però, nella brevità delle tracce, risente un po’ dell’origine come accompagnamento.

Il lavoro si avvantaggia della presenza del kurdo Taner Akyol alla baglama, liuto turco che ricorda il mediorientale oud, e dell’estrema qualità dei suoni del contrabbassista Peter Herbert e dello stesso Puntin. Ne scaturisce così un disco piacevole, apprezzabile dal punto di vista del progetto e con momenti di grande suggestione: “Prologue” e “Seküre”, entrambi con interventi vocali di Akyol; “Faith” e “Kara”, con splendide sonorità dei clarinetti; “Peace”, struggente nel complesso contrappunto tra violino, baglama e clarinetto; “Osman the Padishah”, fortemente orientale.

Tuttavia, nella sua totalità il lavoro non riesce a mantenere quanto sembra promettere, a causa soprattutto della forte frammentazione: le tracce centrali, quasi tutte oscillanti tra il minuto scarso e il minuto e mezzo, danno spesso la sensazione di voli non riusciti, spezzati in aria al momento di staccarsi da terra.

Così, anche se il disco è piacevole, si rimane con un po’ d’amaro in bocca. Forse, può valer la pena provare ad ascoltarlo dopo (o durante) la lettura del libro di Pamuk che lo ha ispirato.
