Su questo Rise Up al classico trio organo-chitarra-batteria degli anni '60 si aggiunge il pastoso sax alto di Donald Harrison. A fare la differenza rispetto a simili progetti è proprio la presenza del leader, per conferire alla musica una patina di autenticità.

Non è certo memorabile la musica originale presentata, ma stilisticamente variegata verso aperture gospel e genuinamente soul. Una musica da ballare ed ascoltare ad alto volume, eseguita con energico senso ritmico

Un approccio ludico e sornione nell'equilibrare funky, jazz ed atmosfere soulful. Un'onesta opera di divertito, piacevole intrattenimento, dove entusiasma il dinamismo traboccante di Donald Harrison con il suo graffiante sax alto.

Per gli appassionati dell'organo hammond sarà un rinnovato piacere ascoltare le liquide sonorità di Smith, peraltro generoso a lasciare gli assoli più significativi a sax e chitarra. Ne discende un percorso esuberante e sensuale, anche se un po' scontato.
