Alberto Varaldo - Luigi Martinale: Radio Waves
Sono le riflessioni suscitate nelle note di copertina dai due autori, il pianista Luigi Martinale e l'armonicista per caso (una tendinite lo costrinse anni fa ad abbandonare per un lungo periodo la pratica del pianoforte) Alberto Varaldo. E quale strumento più appropriato dell'armonica cromatica a evocare il tempo che fu, il film in bianco e nero, i colori seppia della nostra storia musicale?
Delicatezza di accenti, gentilezza improvvisativa, copiosa fantasia ed un suono a cavallo tra malinconia e ricordo si combinano con la sensibilità pianistica di Martinale, che gioca a nascondino, si inventa scherzosi agguati alle evoluzioni improvvisative di Varaldo ma rimane, comunque, un saldo punto di riferimento.
In Radio Waves non ci sono strilli, non ci sono eventi sorprendenti, non ci sono contaminazioni di moda, né trasversalità a la page. Semplicemente musica per sognare sul filo della nostalgia e del buon gusto.
