Ovale Trio: Premières Formes
Continuando nell'ascolto, tuttavia, ci si accorge che tale configurazione strumentale è anche l'unico elemento di autentico interesse dell'album. Per il resto, grande abbondanza di tanghi. Genere terreno, passionale e sanguigno. Che necessita di fisarmoniche, pianoforti, corde. Non di strumenti eterei come le marimbe o i flauti. E dunque ci troviamo di fronte ad un album poco convincente. Una raccolta di buone esecuzioni, di temi che necessiterebbero però di ben altra grinta, dinamica, temperamento.
Non a caso, la traccia più interessante è la quinta, brano commissionato in epoca pre-Ovale Trio dal duo Grand/Zimmermann al compositore Christian Giger, e dunque scritto espressamente per le due percussioni.
