Osvaldo Di Dio - Vincenzo Virgillito - Antonio Fusco: Portrait en Jazz Méditerranéen

Un orizzonte, forse un tramonto o un’alba. Il ritratto del jazz mediterraneo del trio Di Dio, Virgillito e Fusco guarda a Sud, ma ha nel cuore e nelle dita delle mani, tra corde e bacchette, l’afroamerica di Corea, Hancock, Coltrane, Davis e Shorter.

La negritude di “Sicily”, “Footprints”, “Milestones” e “Giant Steps” si infrange sulle coste di Napoli, della Sicilia e del Nord Africa. Così, le visioni si con-fondono in quel misto di sensibilità e genialità europea - diciamola tutta, italiana - e l’impeto, la bramosia e il richiamo di madre Africa.

Qualche inedito (“Cecile”, “Midnight Drive in Naples”, “Marea”) e la rivisitazione di “Sulo Pe’ Parlà” di Pino Daniele che è un po’ come tracciare un ideale filo rosso tra Napoli, il Mediterraneo e il Jazz.

Un disco evocatore, in cui la chitarra raffinata di Osvaldo Di Dio e la sezione ritmica di Vincenzo Virgillito e Antonio Fusco (con un prezioso aiuto di Marco Zurzolo, sax alto, e Piero De Asmundis, piano) tra improvvisazione e premeditazione mischiano ragione e sentimento, l’anima di tutto il CD.
