Brown Miller

Jazz & Art Photographer, Promoter, Advocate

About Me

Brown Miller is a photographer for "Jazz at the Twelve" and its host, singer, Paul MacKey, at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in the Coachella Valley of Southern California. Miller also administers the PalmSprings.JazzNearYou.com calendar. Miller is an advocate and activist for the rights and value of creative professionals. Promoting life-long arts education and the integration of the arts and creative fields within community development and public administration. Miller is also an arts marketer, content producer, and digital media artist working under the brand name brownianproductions.com serving creative professionals, local arts agencies, and cultural events and institutions. brownianproductions.com (bp) is a social enterprise with great respect for its clients and their communities. Artists, musicians, nonprofits, visionaries, and social entrepreneurs are bp's target client base. A great deal of the work bp engages in is pro bono due to the limited financial resources and worthy cultural merits of certain clients. Committed to developing a unique and vibrant music and arts scene in the California desert, Miller and brownian productions, in collaboration with JazzNearYou.com and the presenters of "Jazz at the Twelve", and with the help of agencies like the California Desert Arts Council, are hoping to build a stable, local framework for intergenerational, multi-cultural performance and art experiences. Miller's strategy for this objective is to engage the stakeholders and practitioners and encourage cooperative, coordinated programs that draw international influences and attention yet also involve the local community. An example of this paradigm is Jazz at the Twelve's participation in International Jazz Day for their debut big band concert. Contact Brown Miller through the All About Jazz messaging system or visit brownianproductions.com if you are a musician, artist, venue, presenter, organization or interested in volunteering or supporting the arts in the desert.

My Jazz Story

Published on: 2018-02-27

My Dad has always been a huge jazz fan, having been one of the younger and lesser known beat poets, so I grew up hearing Miles Davis and other '50s through '70s jazz. Later on I got into the swing scene in the late '90s and developed a passion for pre-mid-century jazz and lot of the fashion, art, and design esthetics of that era. I now work with a jazz singer as the photographer for his monthly jazz show in Indio, CA. We have cutting edge artists like Laurence Hobgood, Arianna Neikrug Kevin Kanner and Josh Nelson playing our intimate venue with breathtaking views of the Coachella Valley. I am also the admin for PalmSprings.JazzNearYou.com and I'm working to develop our local jazz scene in the desert with the help of All About Jazz. My Dad and I are really close and love turning each other on to rare recordings and new artists. Jazz is definitely a big part of my life and I believe the next generation of Jazz will be a major force for unifying the global community of world citizens.
