Gianluca Carollo New Project 4et: Pa We

Chi ha apprezzato il Miles elettrico dell´ultimo periodo, quello prodotto da Marcus Miller per intenderci, troverà qui di sicuro materiale interessante e di suo gradimento. Ma il gruppo guidato dal trombettista Gianluca Carollo non si fa categorizzare facilmente: anche il "Tango per cambiare" è parte del loro mondo espressivo insieme ad un po' di smooth o acid jazz. Tutti insieme si divertono a citare e riprendere citazioni altrui, metterle dentro un loop guidato dal leader, a guardare l ´effetto creato e poi a ripartire di nuovo su ritmi liquidi che evitano il battere monotono delle batterie elettroniche.

Anche il mondo acustico ha la sua parte, non per niente Pietro Pastore suona anche il pianoforte, così come gli etnicismi di "The Window of My Mind" in cui Carollo si esibisce all´ocarina, trasformata per l'occasione in uno strumento orientale. Le atmosfere cambiano di brano in brano, sfuggendo alla trappola della convenzione e delle atmosfere smooth.

Il tutto crea un disco divertente che nella sua voluta facilità di ascolto spiazza l´ascoltatore, chiedendogli di andare a consultare la sua biblioteca mentale per passare da "Alba," un brano dai ritmi in battere ed il pianoforte acustico, forse adatto per svegliarsi mettendolo nella suoneria del cellulare a "Manhattan Street," volutamente con atmosfere più care agli appassionati dello smooth.
