Fort George G. Meade, Md.-- When the Jazz Ambassadors--America's Big Band, a component of The United States Army Field Band (TUSAFB), were approached by Atholton High School Senior Jonathan Engelberg to assist him in submitting his original jazz composition for a National competition, the band jumped at the chance.

The student of former Jazz Ambassador, Gary Dailey, Engelberg came to the Field Band rehearsal hall armed with his score, “Low Tide." Providing the venue, as well as the audio recording equipment, the Jazz Ambassadors first rehearsed the piece, making minor suggestions along the way.

“Collaboration was a key component to recording this arrangement," noted Sergeant Major Mike Buckley, noncommissioned officer in charge of the Jazz Ambassadors. Buckley added, “It was a great honor to help Mr. Engelberg with this recording, and we welcomed this tremendous opportunity as part of the Field Band's education outreach program."

Chosen as one of the nation's outstanding young composers, Engelberg's composition was selected as a performance piece at this year's National Association for Music Education Young Composer Concert in Providence, Rhode Island, earlier this year.
