Jammin' for Jazz Bridge @ Chris' Jazz Cafe in Philadelphia on Friday, April 27th!

Jazz Bridge, a non-profit helping local professional jazz and blues musicians from the Greater Philadelphia Metro area in crisis, will present its 7th annual fundraiser Jammin' for Jazz Bridge at Chris' Jazz Cafe, 1421 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19102, on Friday April 27th starting at 8:00 p.m.

Saxophonist Jerry Weldon will be kicking off the festivities from 8:00-10:00 pm. and then a late jam by some of Philadelphia's finest will follow. Weldon has a long association with many jazz legends including organists Jack McDuff, Jimmy McGriff, Papa John & Joey DeFrancesco. Since the 1990's Jerry has been a member and featured soloist with Harry Connick Jr.'s Big Band, appearing on television, touring the world and recording extensively. Appearing with Weldon will be Lucas Brown, a fiery organist in the tradition of Jimmy Smith; bassist Justin Sekelewski, a graduate of Curtis and sideman for Branford Marsalis and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra; and drummer Rob Henderson, a Philly mainstay. Some of the artists performing in the late jam are singers Suzanne Burgess, Denise Montana, and Rhenda Fearrington; drummers Vince Ector and Jim Miller; saxophonists Odean Pope, Bobby Zankel, Ben Britton, Victor North, and trombonist Don Collins...more will be added as we get closer to the date.
