After summarizing some of Dan Zarella's Twitter and Facebook timing data and then checking out some fairly simple Twitter timing tools, I decided to take a look at a service called Crowdbooster.
Crowdbooster, which has a free basic account option ideal for DIY'ers, offers a dashboard for keeping up with how well you're doing on Twitter and on your Facebook Page. Crowdbooster also gives recommendations on when to tweet for best results. Though there are a lot of social media tools out there, Crowdbooster's the best free tool in this area I've checked out to date.
I think Crowdbooster started with Twitter since the product features page focuses on tweets but the concept is the same for Facebook. Basically you allow Crowdbooster access to your accounts, up to three for the free version, and once they gather data you're good to go.
Twitter reports give you the number of impressions, follower growth, influential followers and top retweeters. Facebook Page reports give you impressions, fan growth and top fans. Bit.ly data will eventually be factored into the reports and I'm told they have plans to integrate most major social media" platforms in the future.
The only timing advice they currently give is for Twitter which is based on when your followers are most active and how your previous tweets have performed." One of the things that makes Crowdbooster stand out over simpler Twitter timing tools is that they give you multiple timing suggestions for each day of the week rather than one or two optimum times to post which is much more useful.
Another nice aspect is that Crowdbooster offers free online chat support even at 3:30 am ET! I'm not sure how long this will last for free accounts but it's certainly a great feature.
Crowdbooster has a useful blog with case studies and social media info. They also host #SMOchat on Twitter every Tuesday at 3 pm ET.
If you're looking for a useful social media monitoring tool which gives you basic information and insights in an easy to use manner, I'd definitely recommend Crowdbooster.
