Three musical visionaries—Grammy-winning producers Alex Sino and Richard Bravo and renowned conductor and arranger Terry Heimat—have joined forces to unveil Alma Libre. This long-awaited album masterfully bridges the worlds of classical elegance and Latin flair. Released in April 2025, this stunning work showcases a collection of melodies penned by iconic composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Ennio Morricone, and Gato Barbieri.

The project is elevated by the artistry of the multiple Grammy-winning musicians: Pianist, composer and arranger Milton Salcedo, trumpeter and composer Arturo Sandoval, and saxophonist Dr. Ed Calle, who shared, “For music lovers, Alma Libre is not just something to hear; it’s something to feel—an exploration of harmony, passion, and creativity.”

Alma Libre is more than just an album—it’s a celebration of musical diversity and fusion. Like with their previous works, like Domus Solis, Alex Sino and Terry Heimat continue their mission to bridge classical and contemporary music, blending timeless compositions with the infectious grooves of Latin rhythms.

With contributions from masters like Astor Piazzolla and Ennio Morricone, Alma Libre offers a rich tapestry of styles. From Piazzolla’s rhythmic philosophy to Morricone’s iconic film scores, the album invites listeners into a world where innovation and tradition coexist in perfect harmony.

The album boasts a diverse selection of songs, including

  • “Tema De Maria" – A soulful composition featuring legendary romantic guitarist Francis Goya, trumpeter David Pastor, and a tango master Mario Parmisano.
  • “I'll Always Be with You" – A heartfelt piece with contributions from Ed Calle, Arturo Sandoval, and Milton Salcedo.
  • “Cinema Paradiso" – A cinematic journey written by Ennio Morricone and arranged by Terry Heimat, Milton Salcedo, and Alex Sino featuring Milton Salcedo and Francis Goya.
  • “Last Tango in Paris" – A passionate rendition of Gato Barbieri’s classic featuring Ed Calle and Milton Salcedo, and arranged by Issah Contractor

A Conversation in Melody

The Timeless Artistry of Arturo Sandoval, Ed Calle, and Milton Salcedo

Among the album’s highlights is the enchanting single “I’ll Always Be with You,” a reimagined instrumental of the multi-platinum song originally written by Lenny Agutin.

This track stands out with its distinguished melody and an impressive lineup of all-star performers. Featuring the legendary Arturo Sandoval, Ed Calle, and Milton Salcedo, the single delivers an enthralling blend of crossover Latin grooves and extraordinary solos.

The song has a rich history. It was initially composed for the animated film Aquaman, where it served as a heartfelt love ballad. Upon its release, it became an instant hit across Europe. Producer Alex Sino reflected on his journey: “I remember when Agutin wrote it and sang it for me with just an acoustic guitar, overlooking the serene Peconic Bay in Long Island. I knew then that the song would become a jazz standard, and I’m thrilled to have had the chance to reimagine it.”

Arturo Sandoval, the legendary trumpeter whose career spans continents and decades, joins forces with the virtuosic saxophonist Ed Calle and the gifted maestro Milton Salcedo for a reimagining of “I'll Always Be with You." This arrangement emerges not merely as music but as an evocative dialogue—a slow and profound exchange that delves into the very fabric of life, love, art, and humanity.

This arrangement of “I'll Always Be With You" is not simply a reinterpretation of a melody but an ode to jazz’s enduring spirit. It reminds us of the genre's power to converse—to speak truths, bridge divides, and offer solace. It captures the essence of humanity while challenging its boundaries, leaving the listener both introspective and inspired.

For jazz lovers, the significance of this collaboration cannot be overstated. It is a testament to the lasting power of musical conversation, brought to life by three unparalleled talents.
