Barjazz Quartet: Nessuno

Interessante questo Barjazz Quartet, gruppo di giovani musicisti piuttosto attivo sulla scena romana. Interessante perché pur utilizzando linguaggi e codici interpretativi profondamente ancorati alla strada maestra della musica afroamericana evita il sovraffollato sentiero di una pedissequa emulazione di canoni consolidati o di uno stucchevole copia e incolla senza prospettive.

In Nessuno i quattro mettono invece in campo molta personalità, altrettanta esuberanza e freschezza, la capacità di tradurre in linguaggio jazzistico la contemporaneità dei suoni, degli stimoli e delle sollecitazioni che provengono dalla quotidianità. Come dimostra l'unico standard presente nell'incisione, l'iniziale "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes," interpretato con brio grazie ad una connotazione ritmica disincantata, arricchito da umori e colori vividi e da un finale tutt'altro che banale.

I brani successivi evidenziano anche una buona capacità compositiva, le architetture sono composite e a volte ariose, con cambi di atmosfera e ottimi interventi solistici, come nelle riuscite "Cojhaique" ed "Euroclub".
