Fabian M. Mueller: Monolog

Il pianista svizzero Fabian M. Mueller è una piccola scoperta. Compositore, jazzista, ha al suo attivo numerosi CD e fa parte di numerose formazioni - l'FM Trio, l'Augur Ensemble, il quartetto puramente jazz Jalazz, il gruppo nu jazz Box - e ha una parte da solista nel progetto audio-visivo "aPart of".

Monolog è il suo debutto in solo con un progetto che si compone di quindici brevi tracce in cui il pianista improvvisa ed esegue musiche proprie affiancando al piano un largo impianto di percussioni e registratori.

Il modo di suonare di Mueller è potente, torrenziale, fluido, appassionato. Oscilla senza soluzione di continuità tra generi (classica e una sorta di musica nuo va) e modi (improvvisazione free e opera d'arte compositive) diversi. I pezzi più originali, "Perception," "Ritter Willfried," sono forse quelli in cui Mueller lascia spazi di silenzio e utilizza con più creatività l'impianto percussivo. Lontano da più facili melodismi o da soluzioni adottate da altri (leggasi Keith Jarret in molti passaggi), Mueller sa il fatto suo.
