About the Album
The Chichirikus (or Güijes, Checherikus) are goblins who love playing pranks on people. More playful than malevolent, they're content to tease, startle, or joke with their victims. I composed this melody imagining these little ones jumping from key to key on the piano, playfully altering what I had written. About my record: “The Flop” defies its name. Far from a failure, it’s a brilliant revolution inspired by high jumper Dick Fosbury. Fosbury’s courageous rejection of old techniques to create his own method is Strizzi’s guiding principle. The album becomes Strizzi’s “Fosbury Flop,” allowing him to play with himself and build complex, multifaceted rhythms. It’s a rhythmic journey where instruments are freed from rigid roles, creating a unique soundscape that redefines Latin grooves and modern jazz.
