Yamandu Costa - Hamilton de Holanda: Live!

Questa incisione live ben documenta il valore della nuova scena musicale brasiliana. Violao (chitarra a sette corde) e mandolino a 10 corde si intrecciano a meraviglia per una ricognizione lucida quanto efficace del vasto patrimonio musicale del Brasile. Giganteggiano le composizioni originali del duo, che godono di un palpitante respiro melodico ancorché esaltate da perfetti equilibri esecutivi e di dinamica.

I riferimenti del duo vanno dal samba ad Ernesto Nazareth passando anche per Pixinguinha. L'incisione risale al 2008 e mette in luce il talento di due musicisti degni di essere segnalati all'attenzione del pubblico italiano. Li unisce in questo set empatia ed un approccio in souplesse alla pratica musicale, senza voglia di strafare e velleitarismi.

Al di là del valore intrinseco dei due musicisti, ne discende un disco rispettoso dei valori musicali di riferimento e al tempo stesso proiettato verso una moderna quanto efficace sintesi che rifugge dagli stereotipi dominanti. Sfiziosa anche la scaletta dei brani in programma, che termina con un avvincente tango brasiliano di Ernesto Nazareth (1863-1934) a testimoniare l'attualità ed il valore della tradizione musicale.
