Chi ha visto Let’s Make Love di George Cukor (con la sfolgorante coppia Marilyn Monroe e Yves Montand), ricorderà la grazia, il divertimento, il felice mix di ingenuità e erotismo sprigionati dalla storia.

A quel film frizzante si è ispirato Franz Koglmann per una serie di quadretti orchestrali in cinque parti e dodici scene, con arrangiamenti di gran pregio che fan svettare strumenti come oboe, corni, tuba, glockenspiel.

E’ una operazione a metà tra il carattere della “third stream” anni ’60 e la morbidezza di uno swing saggio, privo di percussioni.

Il tema che ogni tanto ritorna è quello di “My Heart Belongs to Daddy” (Cole Porter), dapprima soltanto evocato, infine scandito con chiarezza (“A Hero”).

L’organico piuttosto serioso, comprendente anche violino, trombone, tromba, flicorno, piano e contrabbasso, diretto con fermezza da Gustav Bauer, non impedisce ai solisti di graffiare spesso con arguzia. Notevoli, nell’insieme, Mario Arcari, Tony Coe, Rudolf Ruschel.
