Sergio Caputo: La Notte è un Pazzo con le Mèches
La scaletta non deluderà chi ama la cifra più caratteristica di Caputo, quella formula musicale frizzante e leggera piena di influenze swing, latin, di odori della vecchia New Orleans e di occasionali derive blues. Musica che si sposa, il più delle volte, anche a un immaginario da italiano che guarda all'America, ben connotato e per certi versi distintivo. A contare, dicevamo, è soprattutto l'atmosfera live che questa registrazione mantiene intatta. Una dimensione utile fra l'altro a regalare l'anima più jazzistica (e quindi improvvisativa) di Caputo e della sua band alle prese con un pubblico caloroso.
«Il fatto - spiega lui - è che mi trovo abitualmente sul palco con dei musicisti di grandissimo spessore, ed amo moltissimo l'idea di lasciare che si esprimano al di là delle strutture prestabilite». Insomma, un disco fatto per divertire e divertirsi. Un album perfetto per vivere almeno una parte della magia che il Sergio Caputo Quintet sa regalare fra le quattro mura di un club.
