Miguel Zenon: Identities Are Changeable
Anche sul piano strettamente musicale, l'opera non sembra essere particolarmente memorabile. La suite per quartetto ed orchestra altro non fa che trasporre sul piano orchestrale alcuni dei più noti clichè del latin jazz. In primo piano i vari procedimenti poliritmici della tradizione caraibica, come tappeto sonoro di una swingante tessitura mainstream alternata a quella latineggiante. Ma da un musicista di vaglia come Zenon era forse lecito attendersi qualcosa di più pregnante ed originale.
