Ahleuchatistas: Heads Full of Poison

Siamo alle settima prova, la terza pubblicata dalla label Cuneiform capitanata del coraggioso Steve Feingenbaum, di questo altrettanto spericolato duo della Carolina del Nord: Shane Perlowin (chitarra e basso) e Ryan Oslance (batteria e percussioni). Il loro discorso musicale contraddistinto da iperboliche cavalcate chitarristiche e da furiosi stacchetti percussivi oscilla dal noise al metal fino a raggiungere i territori dell'improvvisazione piu radicale. Una musica cerebrale, ma allo stesso tempo diretta, carica di un'energia a volte brutale e senza filtri. Una sorta di post punk, innervato però da una tecnica e da una sapienza musicale effettivamente fuori dal comune.

Ogni traccia di Heads Full of Poison è stata registrata dal vivo in studio e il disco mantiene intatta la spontaneità e le capacità improvvisative espresse dal duo in sala di incisione dove alterna brani apparentemente "gentili" e introspettivi come "Lighted Stars" o "Starved March" a variazioni senza paracadute come la dark e rumorista "Future Trauma". Un ascolto non facile quello di Heads Full of Poison che richiede grande attenzione e concentrazione. Potrebbe piacere a chi apprezza i Naked City di John Zorn (che, del resto, ha pubblicato il loro Of the Body Prone sulla Tzadik nel 2009) o il post rock dei Tortoise di Chicago. Riferimenti più che nobili.
