Brussels Jazz Orchestra With Camille Bertault: Gainsbourg
La Brussels Jazz Orchestra e Camille Bertault ricordano che Gainsbourg fu un artista eclettico ed interpretano dodici sue canzoni (ma ovviamente non "Je t'aime... moi non plus") con brioso charme. Registrato lo scorso anno, il programma continua a suscitare consensi come dimostrano i concerti di fine novembre in Belgio. Con quest'album Camille Bertault (che ha appena pubblicato un nuovo lavoro: Bonjour Mon Amour) riafferma in primo luogo la sua identità di cantante francese, che usa la lingua nazionale e privilegia gli autori della sua tradizione.
Il disco inizia con la spigliata "Couleur café" che Gainsbourg scrisse nel 1964 e il brillante arrangiamento rispetta il clima originale latino. Scritte principalmente da Pierre Drevet, Dieter Limbourg e Frank Vaganée le orchestrazioni sono improntate ad uno swingante mainstream, con frequenti spazi per gli assoli mentre Camille interpreta le melodie originali. Tra i momenti più intensi e personali abbiamo l'impressionistica rilettura di "Les Goémons."
