Alessio Menconi: From East to West
Le sue interessanti composizioni originali si mescolano con una bella versione di “The Fool on the Hill” dei Beatles, resa ancora più surreale dall’ipnotico incedere del basso di Riccardo Fioravanti e dal gioco sottile del bravo batterista Stefano Bagnoli. Anche la “Romeo e Giulietta” di Nino Rota è un bel omaggio al romanticismo, senza però cadere mai in tentazioni troppo zuccherine. Nel repertorio di questo album non mancano un paio di composizioni scritte dai due compagni di strada di Menconi.
Quando serve, i tre musicisti sanno innestare anche il turbo e specialmente nella title track e nella conclusiva “Bandeyer” dimostrano una grinta ben dosata che non ci sarebbe dispiaciuto vedere utilizzata in maniera più ampia anche nel resto dell’album.
