Rosario Di Rosa Trio: Freedom - Improvised Suites for Trio

Questa "Freedom" costituisce una Suite spuntata per caso, fra idee su come comporre un lavoro per quintetto, organizzare un disco in solitudine, la letteratura di John Fante e la musica, in un modo o nell´altro sempre presente, dei musicisti che ogni notte improvvisavano nei locali per eccellenza del bop alla 52esima strada di New York. Tante idee, forse confuse, e poi all´improvviso l´arte dell´improvvisazione in trio.

Una decisione poco originale (quella di pescare standard strafamosi, suonati e risuonati mille volte, anche da musicisti che si sa già che sono inarrivabili) alla fine ha fatto la sua strada verso lo studio Murec a Milano, da dove è passata un pezzo di storia. Eppure, registrati su un due vie senza possibilità di correggere a posteriori, i tre sembrano così ispirati e decisi nella via da percorrere che la musica acquista una sua dimensione viva, espressione di sentimenti spuntati in tempo reale in uno spazio che in qualche modo ha fatto da catalizzatore.

Monk, Ornette, Wayne Shorter, la modalità, si susseguono in un percorso libero di snodarsi per vie che sembrano apparentemente impervie. Trovano per strada la scintilla dell´ispirazione: specie il batterista sembra una fucina di idee, abile a creare aree di ritmo o colori su cui si coagulano delle idee collettive che hanno il pregio dell´originalità.

Il risultato è un disco non omologato, di quelli che conservano la propria identità a tutti i costi.
