Estrela Da Tarde del contrabbassista Andrea Avena segue un percorso non univoco. Da un lato ci sono le poesie di Pablo Neruda, di Manuel Bandeira, che costituiscono il fulcro del progetto. Dall'altro le composizioni di Andrea Avena, a volte dense di profumi latini, a volte dirette verso altri orizzonti espressivi. C'è infine un terzo fattore, rappresentato dalla M.J. Urkestra di Roberto Spadoni, che si muove a tratti verso scintillanti atmosfere da big band, a tratti verso lidi più intimistici.

C'è molta carne al fuoco, insomma, ma non riusciamo a cogliere il filo conduttore, l'elemento unificante. Un orizzonte sonoro talmente ampio da diventare sfuggente, e far passare in secondo piano alcuni momenti di brillante scrittura.
