Eleni Karaindrou: Elegy of the Uprooting
Gli ultimi lavori della Karaindrou, Trojan Women e The Weeping Meadow, costituiscono l'ossatura principale di quest'opera, fornendo diversi brani disposti lungo tutto il concerto, e inframmezzati da altri temi presi dalle sue composizioni per il cinema. Naturalmente il suo sodalizio artistico con il regista Angelopoulos è ampiamente rappresentato, con brani tratti da "The Suspended Step of the Stork", "Ulysses' Gaze", "Eternity and a Day", "Voyage to Cythera", "The Beekeeper", e "Landscape in The Mist", tutti cuciti insieme a descrivere quella 'Elegia dello sradicamento' (come recita il titolo originale) che sta alla base della poetica cinematografica del regista, e trova la sua precisa rappresentazione musicale nelle opere della compositrice.
Il lavoro scorre con linearità e coerenza, in modo omogeneo, senza scosse, e il sottile filo conduttore che ha sempre legato insieme le composizioni della Karaindrou si rivela in tutta la sua essenza. Anche chi aveva già ascoltato questi temi li vedrà sotto una luce differente, pur ritrovando in essi l'evocazione di un comune senso di struggente nostalgia; per tutti gli altri, un efficace compendio dell'opera dell'autrice.
