Michel Godard, Ihab Radwan: Doux désirs

Dodici brani firmati singolarmente o congiuntamente dai due performer compongono questo raffinato album in duo fra il francese Michel Godard, che dà qui la netta preferenza (come del resto gli capita di sovente, in tempi recenti) all'arcaico serpentone, e l'egiziano Ihab Radwan, specialista dell'oud, per una proposta definita dai diretti interessati "un progetto originale che unisce suggestioni francesi, italiane ed egiziane, uno sguardo al passato remoto e uno al futuro anteriore, visti e letti attraverso il prisma e le mille facce del jazz."

Il dialogo è concentrato, rigoroso, verrebbe da dire ancestrale, ora più quieto e riflessivo, attraversato da un tono che definiremmo nostalgico, ora più mosso, anche rigoglioso (ma con parsimonia...), e domina la quasi totalità dell'ora abbondante di musica su cui il disco si svolge (fa eccezione "Malato d'amore," per soli oud e voce, più un paio di prologhi sempre appannaggio di Radwan), a dispetto delle spiccate individualità dei due interlocutori: c'è la chiara volontà di confrontarsi, di trovare sempre un terreno comune, e tale direttiva viene perseguita (si direbbe in scioltezza) con ammirevole coerenza e disponibilità reciproca. Una lieve—quanto in fondo fisiologica—uniformità delle situazioni proposte costituisce in tal senso un sia pur minimo freno alla totale riuscita del lavoro.
