Luigi Vitale Quartet: Cin-cue
Progetto semplice e classico, il disco è reso personale dall'assenza del piano, che in certo modo vibrafono e marimba vanno a sostituire all'interno di un repertorio che non vira né verso il latino, né verso l'etnico, ma rimane invece sul piano del jazz moderno, con fasi liriche e momenti che richiamano le atmosfere delle ballad (“News”, “Amica Zoster”).
Eccellenti le performance di Vitale e di Virone, ottimo l'apporto degli altri due membri della formazione (si ascolti il bel dialogo tra contrabbasso e batteria nella parte conclusiva di “Wué-wué”), il lavoro trova i suoi vertici nella traccia finale, “Fuochi Improvvisi”, e nella complessa “News”, nella quale fa piena mostra di sé il tenore di Virone.
