Dave Maric è un nome che dice molto in Francia e Inghilterra e che forse in Italia è ancora sconosciuto ai più. Compositore inglese di musica elettronica e acustica, Maric ha realizzato numerosi progetti nell’ambito del jazz, dell’improvvisazione, della musica elettronica e del pop, ottenendo rapidamente un grande successo in patria grazie alle collaborazioni con Kathia e Marielle Labèque, Viktoria Mullova e Fred Frith.

A partire dal suo sempre crescente interesse per la composizione per strumenti acustici e visto anche il successo ottenuto con primo pezzo scritto per il percussionista Colin Currie nel 2000, Maric ha di recente dato alle stampe per la Onyx Borrowed Time, album in cui ha raccolto altri sei pezzi scritti per il percussionista inglese.

Varietà di stile nella composizione e freschezza nell’esecuzione rendono senz’altro riusciti tutti i pezzi scritti da Maric per Currie, “Predicaments” (2003) per percussioni e piano, “Lucid Intervals” (2006) per percussioni e tromba, “Sense and Innocence” (2002) per percussioni live e campionate, “Shapeshifter” (2001) per due percussioni, “Borrowed Time” (2003) per percussioni e organo e “Trilogy” (2000) per percussioni live e campionate.

La collaborazione del noto trombettista Hakan Hardenberg, dell’organista Clive Driskill-Smith e del percussionista Sam Walton conferiscono ulteriore prestigio a questa già interessante registrazione.
