Quinto album a firma dei Doctor 3, che rompe un silenzio discografico di circa quattro anni. Nel titolo, il manifesto programmatico dell'album: atmosfere notturne, malinconiche. In una parola, intraducibile ma che rende perfettamente l'idea, blue.

Secondo consuetudine del trio, il CD propone un mix di brani di varia estrazione. Temi cinematografici convivono con standard della tradizione jazzistica, cantautori nostrani con la west coast di James Taylor. La melodia è il fulcro intorno a cui ruota l'interpretazione. La pura melodia, restituita nella sua forma originale, senza troppi orpelli, variazioni, acciaccature o abbellimenti.

E quindi per una volta, nonostante siamo di fronte ad un album di jazz, l'improvvisazione (che pure è presente) non è il momento centrale della musica. Rappresenta, piuttosto, un collegamento tra l'esposizione del tema e la sua ripresa per la conclusione del brano. I soli sono dunque sempre di breve durata, introspettivi e serenamente languidi, mentre su tutto l'album aleggia lo spirito del Keith Jarrett Trio.
