Fausto Ferraiuolo Trio feat. Johannes Faber: Artnam Mantra

Artnam Mantra nasce dall'incontro tra il pianista Fausto Ferraiuolo e il trombettista Johannes Faber, entrambi cultori di filosofie orientali e uniti da una sicura affinità musicale. I dieci brani proposti - quasi tutti a firma del pianista - ne sono esempio lampante, in quanto tutta la track-list evidenzia motivi d'interesse, sia per le situazioni intriganti e di non semplice lettura che per i molti temi a "presa rapida".

Ferraiuolo e Faber procedono spesso in dialogo, sviluppando melodie cantabili, concilianti, che si lasciano assaporare senza frenesie e che ricercano una bellezza formale di grande fascino ("Summer Theme"). Il quartetto sa trovare il giusto cortocircuito emozionale in particolar modo nei momenti ombrosi ("Fragments") e colmi di malinconia ("Sud"); riesce a vestire la propria musica con estrema eleganza ("Last One") e anche quando i ritmi richiedono una certa duttilità ("Letter to E.G.") non manca di farsi largamente apprezzare.

Tra le cose migliori va segnalata la struggente "Prelude in C min" di Chopin, con una lunga introduzione di tromba che cede poi la scena al pianismo delicato di Ferraiuolo, e la conclusiva "Mantra-Artnam," che con il suo andamento lento e ipnotico ben riassume l'intenzione specifica dell'intero lavoro.
