With the exceptions of Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane, Albert Ayler, Marion Brown, and Rashied Ali exemplify this theory. Thankfully, those fighting in the trenches alongside the insurgents, like Joris Teepe, are determined to keep their memory and spirit alive.
