Inspired by the late, great Vernel Fournier and his classic groove on ‘Poinciana’ with the Ahmad Jamal Trio. Add some smooth Electric Guitar chords. A dash of Upright Bass. Sprinkle on some Hammond Organ. Live Hip hop drums join in and the fun begins. The Hammond turns nasty and Dobro licks fill the spaces between all the riffage. Not pretentious or notey - just hip and groovy. Laid back and in the pocket. Like Madlib remixing old Blue Note records but with a live band in Nashville.
