Album Description
This is a compilation of scattered recordings made between 2023 and 2025. It's an album where the electric facet of my work is brought to the forefront. It includes moments from my involvement with my project Afluentes Ensemble – particularly the recordings made at Sala Smetak, with the final tracks featuring drummer Fernando Fernandes – as well as my own solo work. In a way, the fact that part of this album was recorded at Sala Smetak (Smetak Room), during rehearsals and experimentation with acoustics different from my home, Walter Smetak casts a mysterious shadow over, even if it's not entirely apparent in my own music. The Swiss wizard is a ghost present in this album – the cover was a photo taken by his daughter during my participation in the Remembering Smetak Concert (in 2013), and the back cover is a snapshot of a rehearsal done in the Smetak Room at the UFBA School of Music in May 2023. Microtonality is used as an element that complements the exploration of noisy amplification and distinct improvisational rhythms. "De Partida" is the most recent track, but it seems a natural part of an album like this. About this album, José Geraldelli Jr. has said: "What really strikes me when listening to your music is that there's a moment when you've built a wall of sonic concrete, and on the other hand, you make it rain massive blocks of minerals on glass ceilings. Lately, I've been mesmerized by these bombastic and disconcerting columns of sound that few have the courage to create. I got carried away. But that's it. Finally, beyond this hypnotic wall made of retracting sound frequencies, there's a compositional aspect that's very difficult to achieve. Your music is simultaneously comfortable, impactful, and never monotonous."
