Album Description
Part of the Journey is a 2023 album by Ukrainian jazz and classical accordionist, composer and pianist Taras Luka — a vibrant fusion of contemporary jazz and pan-Latin styles written for accordion and jazz quintet.
Across eight original compositions, Luka places the accordion at the center of the ensemble, combining contemporary jazz harmony and improvisation with Latin-inspired rhythms, lyrical melodies and elements of his classical background.
The album moves between energetic ensemble playing and more intimate, cinematic moments, reflecting different places, memories and experiences from Luka’s artistic journey. The title Part of the Journey represents music as a collection of moments that shape an artist’s life and creative identity.
The album also features “A Journey For Two,” a composition that Luka later developed for accordion and symphony orchestra and has performed internationally.
Part of the Journey was released on June 23, 2023.
