Album Description

This CD would not have been possible without the inspiration provided by the extraordinary musicians who played on these sessions, my colleagues at Berklee College of Music, who gave their heart and craft to every note they played. In addition, I would like to express my gratitude to Ken Kanavos, whose input and engineering skills were invaluable to me. 1) Dancing in the Dark – H. Dietz / Arthur Schwartz Let’s Face The Music And Dance – Irving Berlin Latin Session Love what these two songs say back to back. The montuno is classic. 2) I Concentrate On You – Cole Porter Acoustic Session 2 We found a new way in on this old standard. The bass solo is a gem, Jim Stinnett does his usual brilliant job on piano, and Greg Badolato shines on the break. 3) How Deep Is The Ocean – Irving Berlin Acoustic Session 1 This unforgettable standard from the soul of America has always overwhelmed me by what it says and how it says it. 4) Children Of Sanchez – Chuck Mangione Latin Session & String Session Jack brought this to Oscar Stagnaro, who put together this amazing latin rhythm section. Thank you Oscar, Mark Walker, Alex Brown, Mitchell Gonzales, and Paulo Stagnaro. 5) Veinte Años – Maria Teresa Vera / Rafael Zequeira Latin Session & String Session The Cuban Bolero implores, “I miss the way you loved me” (20 years ago). 6) Savor Each Note – Jack Perricone / Scarlet Keys Acoustic Session 1 This is the first of five new songs debuting in this CD by Jack Perricone with various collaborators. This one is an anthem to living life in the present. 7) You Go To My Head – Fred Coots / H. Gillespie Acoustic Session 2 A tip of the hat to the great Shirley Horn. Yoron Israel’s masterful fills and Daniel Smith’s fills on tenor sax highlight the implicit sensuality of this song. 8) After You – Jack Perricone / Jon Cale Acoustic Session 1 Yoron Israel’s masterful fills and Daniel Ian Smith’s soulful tenor work sprinkle blues magic on this new tune. 9) He’s My Man – Jack Perricone / Paul Volpe Acoustic Session 2 A slice of intimate love, so well written, a moment women often relive. Ken Cervenka on muted trumpet. 10) Prisoner Of Life – Doc Pomus / Mac Rebenac Blues Session This lyric says it all. The players – Marty Walsh, Dave Limina, Ralph Rosen and Mo (Danny Morris). I couldn’t ask for more. 11) In Love Again With You – Jack Perricone / Mark Sims Acoustic Session 1 This lyric and composition capture the poignancy of first love remembered. Daniel Smith solos here on alto flute. 12) Precious Moments – James Day / Jack Perricone Acoustic Session Dedicated to Robert Weltmayer.
