Jonathan Poretz: A Lot of Livin' to Do
Senza grosse concessioni al gusto del pubblico abituato a suoni sintetici ed a voci che spuntano più da un computer che da un essere umano, la band intorno al giovane cantante lavora alle famose canzoni con arrangiamenti non proprio originalissimi, ma che comunque mettono in risalto un leader dai notevoli mezzi tecnici.
Insieme ai brani dei grandi autori del Great American Songbook c'è pure la bossa nova di Antonio Carlos Jobim, un "How Insensitive" che, dopo le tanti interpretazioni seguite alla scoperta di questo genere da parte di Stan Getz e Charlie Byrd, è ormai parte del repertorio di tanti musicisti americani. Il resto lo abbiamo conosciuto in tante versioni, orami parte di un genere difficile da rinnovare riproposto continuamente da crooner senza i grossi mezzi tecnici di Poretz.
