Peter Landis – Gabriela Friedli: Urgenta
Urgenta si risolve in sette tracce, tutte a firma di Landis, registrate nel novembre 2011 al Maiers Theater di Zurigo, dalle quali emerge la capacità del duo di imbastire melodie lineari e cantabili, come avviene in "No Sorrow Tomorrow," ma anche nervose e dall'andamento irregolare, come nell'iniziale "Pièce 3". L'approccio è in gran parte di tipo cameristico, e il ruolo di primo piano è spesso a favore del sassofonista. Landis si esprime attraverso un'ampia estensione timbrica e riesce sempre a dare un senso di compiutezza ai suoi interventi. I brani presentano ampi lidi di libertà formale, nei quali il pianismo della Friedli trova modo di elevare la sua liricità, come in "Klangtraum".
La pianista si rivela decisiva anche nelle fasi di costruizione ritmica, mettendo al servizio di Landis ostinati di grande incisività o passaggi appena accennati, al confine della trasperenza. Il lavoro richiede una certa attenzione d'ascolto, necessaria per coglierne tutte le sfumature e i dettagli.
