Francesco Cafiso - Dino Rubino: Travel Dialogues
Il loro è un dialogo che si sviluppa attraverso la rilettura di standard dalla profonda intensità espressiva, come l'iniziale "Moonlight Serenade," e break improvvisativi che rendono l'intero lavoro scorrevole e mai scontato. Un album messo a punto attraverso molti concerti che Rubino e Cafiso hanno affrontato insieme, e che emana una grande sensazione di rilassatezza, dal momento che il repertorio viene proposto su tempi medio lenti, a volte quasi immobili.
Da rimarcare la capacità di Cafiso di traghettare la musica da una melodia alla successiva creando dei ponti di collegamento che difficilmente sanno di comoda scorciatoia, ma di strada insidiosa e affascinante. Sentiero che Rubino imbocca fidandosi ciecamente del collega, senza indugi, cosicché insieme riescono ad evitare le banalità e le insidie che una scaletta fatta di brani molto conosciuti, come "Besame mucho" o "Moon River," poteva nascondere.
Più di un ascolto, si diceva. Perché non sempre al primo passaggio si fa caso ai sottintesi e alla grande complicità tra i protagonisti di Travel Dialogues. Una complicità che sa conquistare.
