Simone Massaron: The Big Empty
Come quest'ultimo, anche Massaron mescola brani in stile tradizionale, inclusi quelli di sua composizione, con frammenti di improvvisazione pura, privilegiando il suono acustico, un po' sporco, dello strumento, sugli effetti elettronici aiutati da un uso parco dei loops. Si passa dalla decostruzione di classici come "In a Sentimental Mood" e "Parlami d'amore Mariù" ai blues di "Bury Me Not" e "You'll Be Stuck on the Bus for the Rest of Your Life," alla melodia di "The Massarons" e "Family Album."
Nonostante la frammentazione dei brani (in tutto 15 per 37 minuti complessivi di musica) il disco mantiene una certa omogeneità stilistica, e funziona soprattutto come campionario di situazioni musicali ad uso del chitarrista, che vi espone quella parte del proprio repertorio dedicato allo strumento in un contesto specificatamente solistico.
