Già leader degli Old 97’s, band statunitense di alt-country, Rhett Miller non bada a fronzoli né a sofisticazioni. In un’era tutta elettronica, tutta incentrata sul lavoro di post - produzione, la sua musica è l’emblema della semplicità. Canzoni orecchiabili al primo ascolto, rock diretto, armonie di base, guitar oriented.

Il suo terzo CD (a dodici anni dall’esordio Mythologies) si presenta con più forza e pretese. Da un lato la produzione di George Drakoulias (produttore alla corte dei Black Crowes e di Tom Petty), dall’altra la presenza di turnisti di tutto rispetto: Lyle Workman chitarrista con Sheryl Crow e Beck; Matt Chamberlain, batterista con Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Tori Amos e l'ultimo Morrissey, garantiscono un buon biglietto da visita a questo, ai più, sconosciuto artista.

Parte forte ("My Valentine", "Help me, Suzanne", "Meteor Shower") per poi pian piano virare verso ben più soffici e intimistici momenti. "Fireflies", ballad condivisa con Rachael Yamagata, "Delicate" e la title track.

Nel bagaglio delle citazioni, Ryan Adams e Teenage Fanclub, su tutti. Un cd piacevole, da ascoltare senza molte pretese. La sostenibile leggerezza del pop/rock.
