Vytautas Labutis graduated in 1986 from the Vilnius Academy of Music completing a course in saxophone playing. He constantly takes part in various international “JazzBaltica Ensemble” (leaders D.Murray, N.O.Pedersen, M.Schneider, D.Bates, etc.), ”Octet Ost” (lead. Ch.Muthspiel), “Moscow Composers Orchestra”, ”New European Saxophone Quartet”, ”A.Vapirov Big Band” and Lithuanian projects - “Vilnius Jazz Quartet featuring Neda”, ”D.Pulauskas Sextet”, ”L.Šinkarenko Quartet”, ”Kaunas BigBand”, ”Lithuanian Art Orchestra”(lead.V.Tarasov),”Duo E.Kanevičius -V.Labutis”, composes and presents his original projects as a leader (V.Labutis quartet,octet -CD “Terra Vandetuja”, project “Orkestretto”,etc.)Also plays and composes for the movies,theatres and teaches saxophone and improvisation in Vilnius B.Dvarionas music school. In his music he originally merges experience of jazz music, classical, experimental and alternative music
