Golden Skipper

Yes, "Golden Skipper" is his real, given name (many people ask). Golden has always been of a musical mind and inclination, singing in various church and amateur groups throughout the Richmond area throughout the years. But, after retiring from a long career in the private sector, he decided to follow the urging of friends and family and dive in to singing as a soloist within a band. He has done so most recently with guitarist Gene Pendleton's "Sketches" band, where he can be hears singing crowd favorites such as "Sonny", "What You Won't Do For Love", and "Mornin'". With a deep and shining baritone voice reminiscent of the likes of Lou Rawls, Golden not only sings beautifully, but is a wonderfully likable and kind individual to all who are acquainted with him

Twenty-five years later, the same hospital hired him to perform at their yearly black tie fundraiser dinner dance. Moving to Rhode Island in his twenties started him on the path of becoming one of the most respected entertainers in all of the state. The State of Rhode Island even had a questionnaire to see if you were a knowledgeable Rhode Islander which included the question, "Do you know who Ronnie Rose is?" As his career continued to expand, Ronnie performed with several nightclub acts, then jumped onto the Disco scene in the late '70's with the group Powerful People, signing with Epic Records to release their single “(Little Girl) Say Yes.” He found his true calling when he began performing at wedding receptions and corporate events
