Tony Gallo

Born: July 2, 1963

Tony started singing and playing bass guitar for White Lightnin’ at the age of 16. Along with other original member, Glen Ahearn, Tony co-wrote and arranged some of White Lightnin’s earliest music. Trading in the bass guitar for the microphone, Tony prides himself on his versatility as a performer and has sung or played harmonica with such notables as Al Vega, Paul Fontaine, Brass Force, Brian Maes, Mid-Life Crisis Jazz Band and legendary blues/soul guitarist Luther Guitar Jr. Johnson. Tony currently leads his own self-titled group as well mixing various styles of jazz and r&b. His debut Record Something to Say made the Grammy pool for nomination consideration. Betty Shirley

Jazz Vocalist extraordinaire, artist and teacher Betty Shirley has come full circle in her life and is now reaping the benefits of her hard-earned endeavors. The Times Picayune declares “…her range and command of the stage make Shirley’s a voice that should be heard round the world.”

Blessed with all the range and tonal control one might expect from a first-class Jazz singer, Shirley can scat, propel, coax and hang on to a note. She improvises with unerring instincts and delivers exactly what a song needs, spinning notes like silk. Michael ‘Mr. Jazz’ Gourrier (of WRIR-FM, Richmond Virginia) says about Betty, “One of the top female vocalists on the New Orleans scene. sensitive, sassy, coy and a great interpreter.”

Pepijn de Wit

Born: September 2, 1991

Pepijn is a 17 year old boy, who loves to sing jazz. Born with a talented jazz-voice he revives the good old jazzsongs and adds his own personal flavor to the songs.

Elin

So, who is this Elin, what is her music all about, and how did she end up on this journey?

Born and raised in Sweden by an Irish mother and a Peruvian father. Grew up in three distinct cultures and continents: Europe, North and South America. Oldest of six children, fluent in five languages, eight-year resident of New York City, instrumentalist and student of music since the age of seven, and utterly obsessed with Brazilian music! This should give you a start at understanding the colorful complexities and remarkable adventures from which Elin draws her inspirations and expressions.

Zé Renato

Zé Renato, one of the most beautiful voices of Brazilian music, started his carrier 30 years ago and soon joined the band Boca Livre that became famous in Brazil and worldwide. In parallel, he is leading his own carrier since 1982 and is responsible for many hits in Brazil. In 1987 he joined Al di Meola’s band recording the LP "Tiramisu" and touring twice in the United States and Europe. Zé Renato has won much acclaim and visibility with his decision to record albums in tribute to some of the greatest artists of Brazilian music. He is partly responsible for the revalorization of the Samba music in the young generation since the 90’s

Sue Giles

Born: October 9, 1964

A native of Queens, New York and the youngest of seven siblings, Susan Giles began her musical career influenced by the reverberating sounds of Ella Fitzgerald and big band music while in the bassinet. With the help of her older siblings, she soon was educated thoroughly in Top 40 Radio, R&B, and what is now known as “Classic Soul”, mixed with her father’s passion for Broadway composers such as Stephen Sondheim, Jerome Kern, Hal David, Burt Bachrach and Rodgers and Hammerstein. Her twelve-year musical journey includes performances in New York at The Blue Note, Iridium, Smoke, Chez Suzette, Showman’s, Arturo's, Kavehaz, Detour, 55 Bar, Lafayette Grill and the historic Arthur's Tavern, as well as the legendary Baker’s Keyboard in Detroit, MI. She has mentored with jazz veterans David Durrah and Harry Whitaker; and has performed with vocalists Marion Cowlings and Andy Bey, guitarist Hironobu Saito, trumpet and flugelhorn artist Joe Magnarelli, saxophonist Jerry Weldon and pianist Harold Mabern

Sachal Vasandani

Sachal Vasandani is recognized for his singular voice, with a tone and unique phrasing that mark him as one of the most compelling artists on the scene today.

Thoroughly rooted in jazz, Sachal has the swagger to front the most swinging big bands and the vulnerability to present definitive takes of classic ballads. His deeply creative approach to improvisation across lyrics, melodic changes and time signatures is always soulful, and he has come to be regarded as one of the eminent vocal improvisers of his generation.

Stephanie Jordan

Born: February 15

Jazz at Lincoln Center notes, "every so often a new voice stands up and proclaims itself, but few do so with such supreme depth and understated soul."

Stephanie Jordan's current show continues her signature trademark of singing jazz standards from the Big Band era. It includes highlights from her self-produced debut CD on her Vige Music label; “Stephanie Jordan Sings A Tribute to the Fabulous Lena Horne; Yesterday When I Was Young” which honors the legendary Grammy Award winner who starred in many films.

Stephanie Jordan performed as the featured singer during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Gala which included the presence of President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama; she was selected to sing to Stevie Wonder during the National Urban League’s 2012 National Conference, and also performed at the private celebration ‘Oprah Winfrey and Friends of Susan Taylor’ in honor of Susan Taylor's years of service to Essence magazine.

Lainie Cooke

Born: July 22, 1941

Lainie met her first microphone when she was three years old. It was love at first sight. She did her first radio show at six and television show at eleven. She became a band singer at the age of 14. She sang and entertained folks in her hometown of Minneapolis in large and small venues til she left college to come to New York City. And she is probably the only talented young person in history to leave New York City and go to L.A. to become a jazz singer. Lainie Cooke made her first and most lasting impression in the City of the Angels in the '80s making many fans and friends performing in the top jazz clubs of the Southland. But New York is home and always will be. When Lainie was twelve she won a city wide talent contest
