Born in Toledo, Ohio, Ramona Collins was reared in Lansing, Michigan, by a jazz pianist/singer mother—the late Alice (Collins) Carter—who encouraged her daughter to sing at an early age to combat her shyness. Today, anyone fortunate enough to witness the veteran performer at work will detect not a whit of shyness. Sultry, seasoned, witty and cool are words that come to mind when experiencing this engaging performer whose command of the stage and vast repertoire have helped her establish a solid rapport with club, concert and festival audiences wherever she goes.

Deborah Winters

Born: September 15, 1966

A lifelong resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, Deborah Winters' childhood was immersed in music and dance. Heavily influenced by her father, who pursued the drums as a young man, and by her mother, who was a professional ballet dancer for the Oakland Metropolitan Ballet Company, Deborah developed a passion for music, dance and the theatre at a very early age. Big Band sounds rang through the household where Deborah and her father listened to the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton and Woody Herman, to name a few. Roger Reynolds

Born: January 31, 1966

Roger is a versatile vocalist, composer, arranger, leader, and teacher. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from U. of Miami in Studio Music and Jazz Voice Performance. At UM, he sang in and acted as assistant director of the award-winning jazz ensemble Jazz Vocal I, taught private lessons, directed the group Jazz Vocal III, and coached numerous small ensembles. He also taught voice and directed the vocal jazz ensemble at Florida Atlantic University and taught jazz voice at a community college in Richmond, VA. Roger’s professional experience has varied from 4 seasons as a chorister with Opera Colorado and the Greater Miami Opera to performing on 3 floats in the King Orange Jamboree Parade in downtown Miami

Asako Takasaki

About Asako Takasaki; Born in Toyama, Japan, Asako fell in love with Jazz when she was 20 years old. She was encouraged by her long time mentor Hirotaka Izumi to start singing and her first professional engagement was to sing the Japanese National Anthem on Nippon Broadcasting Inc of Japan. She fell in love with jazz and hasn’t looked back. Moving to New York City in 2004, Asako has been on the scene ever since and also recently started to study with Concord Recording Artist Karrin Allyson. “All of Me” marks her first recording and features some great standards with lovely arrangements and a stellar band. Temika Moore

Temika Moore started her career at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) where she attended with fellow industry classmates, Boyz II Men, Amel Larreuix, Fatin Danzler (Kindred), Black Thought and ?uest Love (the Roots), Mark Nelson (Az Yet), Lizz Fields, Christian McBride and Joey DeFrancesco to name a few. While attending CAPA, Temika was invited to join an all-female vocal quintet, initially named Collage formed by Michael McCary of Boyz II Men. At the time, the group was also being sought after by industry legend, Teddy Pendergrass. Temika decided to leave the group to attend college at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where she became the first Ella Fitzgerald Music Scholar, and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude and was recognized as the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Most Outstanding Graduate. Philadelphia native and now DC metro area resident, Temika Moore is a change agent who uses an inspirational approach to writing songs and live performance

Elaine Lucia

Elaine Lucia has a beautiful, high and clear voice that is versatile, quite powerful and perfectly fits her swinging style. “My goal has always been to be as great a singer as I can and really master my instrument, to soak songs with emotion while singing in a simple and straightforward style. I don’t want to sound like anyone but myself.” One listen to any of Elaine’s three CDs shows that she has already accomplished that goal and is a memorable jazz singer.

She was raised in upstate New York, and was very impressed at the age of four when she saw Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand singing “Happy Days Are Here Again” on Garland’s television show. “I remember thinking: ‘I want to do that!’” When she was 12, Elaine discovered Ella Fitzgerald and that was soon followed by Peggy Lee and Lorez Alexandria. “I like singers who are powerful, musically emotive, with clean, clear tones. I was as amazed by the quality of Ella’s voice as I was of her virtuosity.” Elaine performed her first solos in seventh grade with her school choir, started singing with her choir teacher’s jazz trio on weekends when she was 13, and taught herself guitar. “I simply wanted to be “a great singer”, so I begged my father for voice lessons and started studying opera when I was 15. The training helps me to this day, allowing me the vocal stamina to sing seven nights a week, if I had to, without tiring or harming my vocal instrument. The classical training also helped me win auditions and carried me through the many musical theater productions, rehearsals and shows I was in during my teen years.”

Dafna Naphtali

Dafna Naphtali is a singer/electronic-musician/sound-artist and improviser/composer of experimental, interactive electro-acoustic music. She writes custom computer programs for live sound processing of voice and other instruments, projects for multi-channel audio, musical robots, and audio-augmented reality soundwalks. Drawing on an eclectic musical background she also interprets Cage, Stockhausen and other composers, and collaborates with musicians/video artists internationally. Isabel Hernandez-Cata

The Isabel Hernandez-Cata quintet features a fluid lineup with two remaining constant: guitarist Greg Loman and vocalist/keyboardist Isabel Hernandez-Cata. Isabel and Greg both grew up in the DC area but became acquainted while working on a community theatre production of Guys and Dolls. They have performed with a variety of DC area jazz musicians over the years, including Ricky Loza, Eric Byrd, Alison Miller, and Marcus Johnson. Isabel, a classical contralto, has sung in several area choirs including most recently the National Philharmonic Chorale and Singers. Greg plays in several rock bands, most notably DCide Records’ Oddzar
