Ellen Honert

Ellen Honert, a native of the Netherlands, always knew she would be a singer. She studied piano early on and then jazz voice at the Dutch Conservatory of Music but dropped out because she felt she was losing her personal voice. Cycling home from a Tuck and Patti concert in Amsterdam, she ran into the American musicians on a canal and they invited her to a jazz camp in California. Honert used this opportunity to launch her musical career in the US. After a stint of gospel singing at Glide Church in San Francisco, Honert joined V Soul, a group of singers from Glide, which toured the Netherlands. In 2006 Ellen teamed up with renowned Bay Area producer Frank Martin, who invited a host of stellar musicians, including Tuck and Patti, to record "Breath of the Soul," Ellen's first CD

Ejaye Tracey

Ms. Tracey who studied music since childhood, can remember hearing recordings of Duke Ellington and Count Basie in her crib, lives to perfect, preserve and expand te jazz Tradition through her instrument. She first honed her skills in performance as an actress on the Theatrical Stage and in Films and Television. She was a mainstay of the Jazz scene in New York in the late 80's and early 90's before moving o Los Angeles for 10 years. She appeared in many jazz venues on the West Coast including the Jazz Bakery,The Gardenia, Hollywood Casino and Billy Higgins Jazz Workshop. On the East Coast and Midwest she has headlined Women in Jazz Festival in Ohio, First Night in Connecticut and appeared in many venues in New York City and Upstate New York

Susan Pereira

Vocalist, pianist, percussionist, composer and arranger Susan Pereira, a New York native, has been one of the most versatile musicians on that city’s Brazilian music scene since 1983. While deeply rooted in traditional Brazilian styles, her broad background in jazz and world music has enabled her to develop a distinct musical personality. Fluent in Portuguese, she is a singer who blends a silky, rich tone with superior vocal technique and is a particularly skilled lyric interpreter and scat singer. Susan’s percussive piano style is enhanced by her mastery of complex Brazilian rhythms and her original Brazilian jazz compositions are a popular part of her performances. Formed in 1991 by Susan and Brazilian drummer Vanderlei Pereira, Sabor Brasil has established itself as one of the most popular Brazilian ensembles in the New York area by fusing traditional Brazilian styles with contemporary jazz

Pyeng Threadgill

Pyeng Threadgill - vocalist

Pyeng Threadgill's musical roots run deep. Daughter of jazz composer Henry Threadgill and choreographer Christina Jones, Pyeng received her BA in music from the prestigious Oberlin College and was awarded the Mellon fellowship to study music in Brazil. Pyeng continued her education at the Institute for Audio Research and is currently working on certification in the Alexander Technique, a teaching method designed to help change habitual tension patterns and increase movement awareness.

Threadgill received widespread critical acclaim for her 2004 debut album, "Sweet Home: The Songs of Robert Johnson." On the heels of this impressive introduction, her sophomore effort “Of The Air,” faces up to a tall order. "SweetHome" was named one of the best debut albums of 2004 by the San Diego Union Tribune and C. Michael Bailey in his review for All About Jazz said, "this very well may be the best recording of 2004 to come my way."

Aubrey Parasolle

Timothy Brent

A native of Cleveland, OH and a 9-time DownBeat Award-Winning vocal jazz educator, pianist, arranger and performer, Tim Brent is just about to complete his first semester as the new director of vocal jazz studies at The University of North Texas. Before accepting the position at UNT, Tim completed his doctorate (DMA) at the prestigious University of Miami (May 2008) and was teaching at both UM and Miami-Dade College (2008-09). Previously he was the Assistant Professor of Jazz Vocal Studies at The University of the Arts (Philadelphia, PA) and was the director of the vocal jazz program at Northern Illinois University for three years (1997-2000). Hiroko has a warm sensual voice. Her phrasing is sophisticated and impeccable. Jazz audiences enjoy the traditional jazz vocal sound of this Japanese born singer. She was influenced by Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, Billie Holiday, Bill Evans, John Coltrane and Miles Davis. She currently performs at 105 Harbor, The Jazz Spot and Shutters Café in New York. Hiroko was born into a musical family. Her father played the violin and the harmonica, and her mother and two sisters played the shamisen which is a Japanese three string instrument. Her brother plays the guitar and sings. She started to play the piano and the organ at the age of 5
