My name is April Spain. I was born in Texas, but was raised in the Washington D.C. area wgere my family and cultural environment exposed me to the sounds that helped to shape my musical style. Although self taught on piano, I discovered that I possessed a natural talent and a four octave plus vocal range. I have made music the focus of my life, performing original compositions as well as jazz favorites, for audiences around the globe. Living in Memphis and New orleans and touring in Europe and Japan, I gained a world view of Jazz as a constantly evolving art form. I find that jazz allows me to use my voice as an instrument and not simply a story telling device

Angela Roberts

Angela Roberts is a Jacksonville, FL native living in NYC since graduating from the Jazz program at the University of North Florida. Deeply rooted in the richest musical styles ~ from jazz, blues, and folk, to r&b and rock ~ she is most often noted for her soulful approach to the great book of the American Jazz Standards. Angela has sung throughout the southeast from Hilton Head, SC to Savannah, GA to Daytona Beach, FL ~ as well as all over Jacksonville. Living in New York has brought many exciting opportunities, to include performances at the legendary jazz club, Small's, here in the city, and in Newport, RI during their famed Jazz Festival late last summer ~ in addition to her group's first Canadian experience last November: playing at the historic Gladstone Hotel in Toronto!

Mariana Aydar

Mariana Aydar can be easily located. Where there's good music, there she is, either in a traditional samba jamming, in a gig at the outskirts of town, in the studios, during Carnival, in Sao Paulo, Rio or Bahia. Since she was born in Sao Paulo, music is the air that she breathes. Her father, producer and multi-instrumentalist Mario Manga, was one of the integrants of Preme, an avant-garde group of the 80s that managed to couple irreverence and quality. Her mother, Bia Aydar, worked for many years with a variety of artists from all corners of the country. So, since she was a little girl, her natural habitat was the front stage and the backstage, the dressing rooms and the spotlights, the rehearsals and the recording studios and, mingling in this universe, she learned from observation. At ten years of age, she took up cello lessons and then she got started on the acoustic guitar

Mary Ellen Desmond

A classically trained vocalist, Mary Ellen made her professional debut in 1988 by performing operatic arias at Philadelphia art openings. Simultaneously she was pursuing an interest in Country & Western music by singing with local bands of this genre for five years, until she settled in her niche within the jazz repertoire. Her father played guitar and banjo in society orchestras featuring popular and jazz standards during the 1940s and 1950s and as a child she grew up listening to this music around the house. She has been performing professionally as a jazz vocalist for over twenty years and considers herself very fortunate to be working with accomplished Philadelphia-based jazz musicians such as pianist Tom Lawton, bassist Lee Smith, tenor sax men Larry McKenna & Robert "Bootsie" Barnes, guitarist Michael Kennedy, and trumpeter John Swana. Originally from Westfield, NJ, Philadelphia has been her home for nearly thirty years
