Laura Siersema

Raised in Amherst, Virginia, I grew up listening to my parents sing in their folk music group, the Hon-o-lees, and in the church choir. From the time I was little, I was playing ukelele, guitar and piano, hearing music live, and performing. But I didn't know music was my life's purpose until I went away to college--by then our family had moved to Florida. During classes at University of Florida I wrote lyrics on napkins and, in-between classes, stole away to the auditorium to play the piano for hours. I even played piano for my nursing class graduation, which felt like the most natural thing in the world for me to do. For the obligatory year's worth of "med/surg" experience after graduation, I worked as a nurse on the ophthalmology unit at the teaching hospital at UF

Keiko Ito

Having honed her skills in the language of Jazz with artist and professor Diane Richardson at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, acclaimed Boston-based jazz vocalist Keiko Ito proves herself to be a new shining light on the Jazz and Bossa Nova scene. Her versatility really shows in not only being able to sing in Japanese, but also in Portuguese, French and English. Keiko stays true to herself in that although she sings in many different languages, her sound is consistently warm and inviting. ”There is so much life in music to be lived,” Said Keiko, who is also a lyricist who creates the lyrics to all of her own original songs

Lili Layton

With a background in classical voice, Lili has been performing various styles of music in the Bay Area as well as in New York City. Her interest in Jazz started several years ago and has been her main focus ever since. Lili’s performances include Bay Area musicians, such as vibraphonist, Herb Gibson; guitarist, Pascal Bokar and drummer, Donald ‘Duck’ Bailey; the Susan Sutton Trio; Ed Kelly; the Jazz Doctors, as well as other great Bay Area musicians. She has opened for Charles Brown and Allan Holdsworth. In November 2008, Lili released her debut CD "Demo Sessions Plus Two". Lili has previously recorded the vocal tracks for Empty Hand and is now in the process of working on new original tunes that will be recorded in the near future.

Todd Gordon

Born: June 7, 1958

Aged 44, Todd Gordon was a late arrival to the jazz scene but quickly established himself as “one of Britain’s most popular singers and entertainers” (Scottish Television). An avid Beatles fan until the age of 11, his musical horizons broadened when he heard Frank Sinatra's "Songs for Swingin' Lovers!" album. From that moment, he collected almost every recording by Ol' Blue Eyes whilst expanding his interest in jazz and swing, encompassing numerous other renowned singers and instrumentalists.

Further inspiration came in 1975 when he met Ella Fitzgerald prior to one of her shows. During her concert, she invited him on stage and sang "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" specially to him. Since then, Gordon has been fortunate enough to meet many more of his idols - including Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, Count Basie, Woody Herman, George Shearing and Tony Bennett.

Hope Deans

Hope Deans brings a style that is sultry, classy, yet jazzy which makes her an exciting performer to watch on stage. She studied music of the legendary greats like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, B.B. King, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and later Roberta Flack, Phyllis Hyman, Janis Joplin and Natalie Cole, to name a few. In California, Hope started off working with other local musicians playing around town and sitting in on jam sessions when possible. She had the opportunity to perform at the award winning restaurant The Sky Room in Long Beach and Steamers Jazz Club and Café with Debbie Ebert and Johnny Blast

Shakera Jones

Born: November 5, 1977

A native of Montclair, New Jersey has been singing since age four. Influenced by her parents' love for jazz and soul music, Shakera began performing and singing at every opportunity. Shakera moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University's Esther Boyer College of Music, where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music-concentration Jazz Voice. While attending Temple University, Shakera formed the Shakera Jones Quartet. Early performances consisted of mostly jazz standards with original arrangements. During her studies for a Master's degree in Jazz Studies at the University of the Arts, Shakera began to focus on songwriting

Adriana Miki

Born: November 25, 1970

Originally from Sao Paolo, now living in Lisbon, Portugal, singer Adriana Miki, at a very young age, found herself irresistibly drawn to music. “Music has been part of my soul since before I could walk, “Adriana recalls. ”As a child playing under the stairs it would be all around me, adding tone and color to my world, making my heart beat faster. Time passed and I grew up. During my whole life I had music as part of every moment, in my happiness, my fears, my passions, my solitude. And I sang. But it was always just for me.” If singing came naturally to Adriana, performing did not. “I think deep down I had a fear of the powerful emotion that singing stirred in me,” she continues

Angela Carole Brown

Los Angeles native Angela Carole Brown has been a veteran of the L.A. music scene for two decades as a vocalist, recording artist, and songwriter. She has recorded voice-overs, movie cues, jingles, and CDs for herself and other artists, including Josh Groban's hit single "You Raise Me Up" on his Closer CD for Warner Bros. Records; and demos for Matt Stone & Trey Parker. She has worked theatre, clubs, concert halls, television, and radio, in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

She is also the author of three published books, The Assassination of Gabriel Champion, The Kidney Journals: Memoirs of a Desperate Lifesaver, and Trading Fours, and is a recipient of the Heritage/Soulword Magazine Award in poetry
