Akiko Pavolka

Born: August 10, 1965

Akiko Pavolka is a Brooklyn-based musician, composer and educator who’s strikingly original music blends pop and jazz with the music and sensibilities of her native Japan. Akiko was born in Tokyo and grew up in Yokohama. Her newest recording, her fifth as a leader, is “Mahoroba” for the Fresh Sound New Talent label. It features her band House Of Illusion (Loren Stillman, Nate Radley, Matt Pavolka and Bill Campbell) and her long-time friend Argentinian composer Guillermo Klein performing a set of her brand-new compositions with Japanese lyrics. Pavolka moved to New York in 1995 after graduating Berklee College of Music in Boston and formed House Of Illusion shortly thereafter

Karen Lake is a full time professional jazz singer based in Sheffield, UK. Her rich, sultry voice shows the influence of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Madelaine Peyroux. Her scat singing and exciting manipulation of rhythm and timing reflect the benefit of her studies with Anita Wardell, but her instinctual musical ear enables her to convey the beauty of lyrics with genuine emotion. Rocio Soleil

Singer/Songwriter Rocio Soleil was born and raised in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. At an early age, she discovered her love and passion for music as a means of expressing her emotions and inner feelings. At the age of 17 she started performing in different cities of Mexico along side of very talented musicians. She then became a nightly performer at the Jazz Supper Club "The Club Grill" at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Cancun. While there, she also participated in the annual Jazz festival at the Roots Club where she received positive reviews in the local newspapers such as La Voz del Caribe, Novedades Quintana Roo and the Miami Herald. Rocio then traveled to Cabo San Lucas where she met Fernando Vinoly, an Uruguayan pianist and saxophone player, and Gustavo Silva, a pianist and guitar player from Argentina, together they formed "Milanga’s Truth", a Smooth Jazz/Lounge trio

Tommy Mitchell

Born: November 7, 1952

It all started because his dad went to Juilliard Music College where he met Tommy’s mom. Tommy’s father, Tom, Sr., jazz bass trombonist, and his mother, Simi, an operatic soprano, had met and married while students at the Juilliard School of Music. By the time Tommy, Jr., was 11 months old, he and his mom were living on the road and touring America with dad’s band. The family finally settled in New Jersey, and Tom, Sr., began work in New York as a staff musician on NBC TV’s hit, "The Sid Caesar Show."
