Gaida is a vocalist and composer working at the intersection of the New York Arab and improvised music scenes. Her compositions draw at once on classical Arabic song, Syrian folk traditions, and free improvisations that expand on traditional Arabic maqams (modes) to produce an original and highly personal style marked by great emotional intensity. An acclaimed singer from an early age, Gaida was born in Germany and raised in Damascus. Later she lived in Kuwait, Paris, and Detroit, where she received classical voice training at Wayne State University. Now settled in New York, Gaida works with leading music artists such as Amir ElSaffar, Brahim Fribgane, Tareq Abboushi, Zafer Tawil, and Rufus Cappadocia

Sarah J Hyland

Melding traditional jazz influences with pop and blues, folk storytelling, jive and subtle R&B beats, Sarah J Hyland brings a new twist to jazz music. Songs take the listener on an emotional journey that ranges from despair to irony, frustration to self-effacing silliness. The Hunter Valley native launched her professional career in Sydney and then broadened her repertoire in New York. Sarah's self-penned lyrics are matched with the serious chops and composing skills of jazz guitarist David Longo. Completing her jazz quintet are bassist Jonathan Brown, drummer Nic Cecire and keyboard virtuoso Gary Daley, who performs on piano, Rhodes, Hammond and accordion. Both Sarah and David have had diverse musical careers, performing a range of styles with numerous artists

Andrea Claburn

Born in Baltimore, Maryland to a classical pianist mother and a jazz aficionado father, Andrea Claburn knew what she wanted to do by the age of four. “I started begging my mother to let me to take piano lessons. She would play Chopin and Beethoven, and I would go to the piano when she was done and try to recreate what I’d heard. I wanted to play so badly.” Her mother finally relented when Andrea reached the ripe old age of six. “My mom was very smart. She said, ‘you’re not ready’ when I was in preschool. She was the opposite of a pushy stage mom. By making me wait to study piano, she made it clear that it was a privilege and I should treat it accordingly.” Meanwhile, her father introduced her to his favorite jazz artists: Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, the MJQ, Bill Evans

La Lupe

Born: December 23, 1939

La Lupe caused quite a sensation during her reign at the top of the Latin music scene in the 1960’s and early ‘70’s, where she was aptly called “The Queen of Latin Soul.” She went on to influence a host of female singers who have tried to emulate her dynamic stage presence, showmanship, and unique interpretation of the music. She has been the subject of movies, Broadway shows, and never ending accolades from a new generation of aficionados who still hold her in awe. But there was only one La Lupe! Guadalupe “Lupe” Yoli was born in the small, rural town of San Pedrito, Santiago de Cuba in 1936

Concha Buika

Born: 1972

Buika has been a sensation in Spain since her album, “Mi Nina Lola,” came out in 2005. She is part of a new generation of flamenco influenced performers who are hooking young audiences by mixing in other genres. The fusion of flamenco with jazz, soul and dance rhythms in Buika's music mirrors the story of her own life. Buika was born in Palma de Mallorca in 1972 where her family, originally from Guinea Ecuatorial, live. She learnt from her mother to listen to the great voices of jazz, and from the Spanish radio, the flamenco copla that would influence her vocals. She started singing at bars & pubs in Mallorca, recording several songs (house style) and collaborated with La Fura del Baus in “Ombra”

Aika Hirahara

Daughter of legendary saxophone player Makoto Hirahara (Columbia Records Japan) and sister of Japanese pop star Ayaka Hirahara , aika (Aika Hirahara) began playing the saxophone while growing up in Tokyo. aikaʼs love for music led her to pursue a Music Degree at Berklee College Of Music in Boston. While at Berklee, aika discovered that singing and songwriting were her true passion and shortly after completing her degree, she released her debut album “Ai-Wo” from EMI records, which reached the top 10 Japanese radio charts, to thunderous reviews. aikaʼs highlight performances include Osaka Jo Hall (Japan) where she performed in front of more than 10,000 people, The European Jazz Festival (with Romain Collin Trio), Orchard Hall, Ayaka Hiraharaʼs Dream Night, JZ Brat (with special guests Marty Friedman from the award winning band Megadeth), Rockwood Music Hall in NY, Googieʼs Lounge/The Living Room NY and Paradise Rock Club in Boston. In December of 2009 aika co-wrote the song “Path Of Independence” for Japanese pop star Ayaka Hirahara which hit the charts at number 6, turned Gold and is now going for Platinum. On December 23rd 2009 aika released her new CD single “aika”, featuring the songs “You Told Me You Loved Me” and “Sinking -Caress Me-”, with award winning Producer/Arranger Nicolas Farmakalidis and Grammy award-winning Mix Engineer/Producer Dave Reitzas. Albita

Albita is one of the most recognized voices in the Latin music scene. She is known as a vibrant singer and a qualified rumbera. Albita began her career at very young age, coming from a home of parents who were famous singers. As young singer she started to make herself noticed because of her contribution to the renovation of traditional Cuban music, composing,arranging and singing with very personal style. In 1990, she leaves Cuba and heads to Colombia, where she lived for 3 years, where in she consolidates her passion for different fusions in her music although always maintaining her Cuban roots. In 1993, she crosses the border form Juarez, Mexico into El Paso, Texas, and on April 15, 1993 she arrives in Miami, Florida
